Hi, I'm an Interactive Wearable Textiles and CMF Designer from NID Ahmedabad

Ikshana is a medical textile portable use integrated product for strengthening weak pelvic floor muscles in women with urinary incontinence. Urinary incontinence affects 33% women in India and is a global issue in post-partum women and most women above the age of 18. The project uses interferential treatment applied through innovative conductive fabric electrodes.

The design of the garment is an innerwear style garment that is seamlessly designed for second skin wearability and ease of use. It adapts electric parameters in real time to ensure maximum effectiveness for each patient, It is also washable and usable for daily wear purposes.

It uses blended organic fibres to provide comfort and focus on the manufacturing ability of the product, biocompatible materials for added comfort. The placement of electrodes was determined by optimising design panels on the innerwear to provide comfort. Stimulation and bio-sensing electrodes are present for providing relief and relaying data.

The functional prototype is developed in compliance with medical standards and Indian MedTech Standards.

DESIGN PROJECT 3:
TEXTILES FOR MIGRAINE AS A DISABILITY

AN INTERACTIVE TEXTILES PROJECT

Migraine is the second most debilitating disorder in the world. Being diagnosed with episodic migraine myself has made it difficult for me to partake in activities that are normally done by others, and hence a shot at interactive textiles led me to this project.

"Two Coffees and a Capsule" is an e-textile project that starts with an initiation of the usage of physiotherapy techniques like ultrasound in the cure of migraine. Ultrasound is used for soft tissue damage in chronic neck pain. Since, migraine is a neurological disorder, and nerves are considered soft tissues, the project aimed at ultrasound as a start but eventually with research forayed into Vibroacoustic therapy. Vibroacoustic devices are quite common along with other migraine cures in the US, where it is considered as a disability. India doesn't focus much on migraine as an issue, and devices for migraine have just started trickling into the Indian market. Even then, they are quite costly for the majority of the population.

OPEN ELECTIVE: CRAFTING INTANGIBLES: E- TEXTILES

Designing and prototyping, ideating and testing a low fidelity working prototype of a MIGROMETER. This device for migraines can be worn doubled up like a scrunchie as well as headband, and has 2 vibrometers at the temples, which can be switched on for relief against the pounding pain caused by migraines.

Crochet has been used as a crafting technique connecting craft with E textiles, for therapeutic pain free lifestyle.

MARUTI SUZUKI

A CMF (Colour, Materials, Finish ) project submitted as an interview assignment to Maruti Suzuki, Gurgaon, India.

This project focuses on the futuristic design of Maruti Fronx by 2030, and looks at it from a majorly textile POV.

THE ALCHEMY OF AESTHETICS

A CMF Design diary and Case studies I've been maintaining.

It contains details of my learnings on colours, materials, finishes, textures, techniques, processes and case studies of various products and companies and why their strategies suceeded while others tanked.

DESIGN OF AN E-BIKE: PERSONAL CMF PROJECT

A personal foray into the hard goods sector with market research, colour psychology in automotive design, industrial design sketches, learning new software like Rhino and Alias and bridging the gap between textile and industrial design.

The project deals with the design of an e-bike for young urban professionals always on the go. The brief was generated by AI chatbot ChatGPT and DALL.E. However, the entire research has been done by me learning a lot in the process.
