We have all heard the saying- " Diamonds are a woman's best friend", and in an India, which has always been proud and famous for it's jewels both pre and post Independence (read being the Sone ki Chiriya of the world), diamonds have once again become the forefront of talks, with an NID alumni behind the scenes.

SWA Diamonds glistened its way to the record- breaking pages of the Guinness Book of World Records on 5th May 2022, with a gleaming ring set with 24,679 diamonds, breaking the previous record by double the number of diamonds. The creator of the design has just an amazing history as the ring- Rijisha TV is an NID Ahmedabad alumni whose maiden effort for SWA has taken shape in just 15 days for conception and an additional 90 days for creation.

The 'Touch of Ami' (pictured below) is a meticulous effort on a pink oyster base inspired by mushrooms, and stands for eternity and longetivity. The ring prototype was first created by using a plastic mold and then digitally created. After the CAD process which took 3 months, liquid gold was poured in the mold, cooled and filed into the shape of 41 unique mushroom petals. It was supported by a band, also through the same process. And then came the process of paperwork.

*The diamonds were sourced from producers that are certified by the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS), which prevents "conflict" diamonds from entering the mainstream market*, and then independently verified by experts from the International Gemological Institute lab microscopically *to count the diamonds set and evaluated and confirmed the clarity, carat, weight, cut type and the type of diamonds that were used*. The end result weighs 340 grams and retails for a whopping $95,243 or an eye- watering sum of INR Rs. 76,07,129.84. Whew!
